IT INFRASTRUCTURE AND INFORMATION SECURITY TRAINEE
The Caribbean Maritime University (CMU), the only specialized maritime university in the English-speaking Caribbean, is inviting applications for I.T. Infrastructure & Information Security Trainee
(Level 3)
SUMMARY
IT Infrastructure & Information Security Trainee is responsible for providing technical assistance to students, faculty and staff. In addition, the incumbent would be required to perform basic computer troubleshooting and data entry tasks.
Key Outputs:
-Hardware and Software tested
-Accurate analyzed data produced
-Inventory of I.T equipment maintained
-Procedures, policies, and guidelines adhered to
-Computers for use on the network are installed and configured
-Activities are documented
Key Primary duties and responsibilities:
-Installs and configures hardware and software components
-Repairs or replaces damaged hardware
-Upgrades systems to enable compatible software
-Installs and upgrades antivirus software
-Performs tests on new hardware and software
-Defines software, hardware, and network requirements
-Troubleshoots hardware and software issues
-Provides technical user support to internal and external customers
-Be present, visible, and available to faculty, staff and students requiring technical assistance
-Provides answers to faculty, staff and students who are experiencing I.T. related issues
-Be acquainted with campus technology changes and problems
-Produces accurate and reliable data and interpret results
-Assisting with the Inventory of Information Technology equipment
-Adheres to correct procedures, policies, and guidelines
-Document all activities, record results and retrieve data
-Maintains safe and clean work area and equipment
-Schedules and prioritizes activities undertaken to meet agreed targets
-Communicates technical problems and proposes solutions to the Network and Systems Administrator
-Consults with Network & Systems Administrator to develop appropriate technical solutions, if necessary
-Installs and configures computers for use on the network as required
-Installs and configures printers for individual computers and or for use on the network as required
-Keep informed and up to date with functional changes in enterprise systems
-Conducts data entry duties.
Qualifications & Experience
-At least an Associate Degree in Information Technology; Computer Science; Computer/Software Engineering; or any other related field
-At least two (2) years related experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
-Ability to work as a team member
-Good harnessing of technology initiative
-Good negotiating and persuading skills
-Proficiency within a wireless/wired networked environment and the ability to excellently troubleshoot network connectivity issues
-Excellent presentation and oral and written communication skills
-Sound judgment and analytical skills
-Excellent time management and organization skills
-Must be capable of working efficiently with a minimum of direct supervision
-Proficiency in the use of relevant computer technology both hardware and software
-Excellent knowledge of PC repair techniques
-Knowledge of Windows, Networking, Microsoft Suite and Applications
