Students are eligible for graduation and certification once they meet the below requirements:
- Successful completion of all courses (coursework and examination), including the final degree project.
- Successful completion of the Industry Awareness requirement, where applicable.
- Fulfillment of matriculation requirements for students granted conditional acceptance by the university.
- Satisfied all financial obligations to the University.
- Fulfillment of all requirements to the University Library.
You will not be able to graduate and attend a ceremony in January 2026 if your award has not been approved by the faculty or if you are in debt to the University. Potential graduands are asked to contact the Treasury regarding your financial status at accounts@cmu.edu.jm.
Graduation rehearsal will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, starting at 12 p.m. at the National Indoors Sports Centre. All graduands who will be participating in the ceremony are required to be in attendance. Parking will be at your own risk and available at JA$200/per person.
The 2025 Graduation Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the National Indoors Sports Centre starting at 11:00 a.m. Patrons must be seated by 10:20 a.m. and graduands are required to be at the venue by 8:00 a.m. for robing, orientation, and procession arrangements.
The graduation fees for 2025 are as follows:
- Students: $41,000.00 (including amount payable to Bryan’s Studio)
- Cadets: $36,000.00 (including amount payable to Bryan’s Studio)
Please note that the amounts stated include photographic services by Bryan’s Studios, the selected photographer for the event. Graduands will be required to pay $6,000.00 of the total fee directly to Bryan’s Studios and the remainder to the university. The fee to the university must be paid before clearance is given to take the package photographs.
Payments to the University can be made using any of the following options:
- Paymaster Online (https://paymaster-online.com/)
- Paymaster branches island-wide
- National Commercial Bank branches island-wide via the online portal. No payment will be accepted through the KIOSKs or NCB ATMs.
Proof of payment must be submitted to the Treasury for payments made outside of the University.
All financial obligations must be met by 19 January 2026 to be eligible to graduate in January 2026.
All graduands participating in the Graduation Ceremony must be adorned in full academic robes. Gowns are also required for the graduation photoshoot.
Graduands who are not interested in walking in the graduation ceremony will be issued gowns on the day of their photo session scheduled during the period, January 19-22, 2026. These individuals must return the gowns on the same day of their shoot. Only those who are participating in the ceremony are allowed to leave the photoshoot with the gowns, as they will need to wear same in the graduation ceremony.
Please note that the wearing of the graduation cap will be mandatory for the graduation photoshoot and the graduation ceremony. Choose appropriate hairstyles for the fitting of the cap. All gowns must be returned to the university on or before February 6, 2026, at 3 p.m. If the gown is not returned, the value to replace the gown will be added to your account. Certificates will not be issued to individuals who have not returned their gowns or paid for the replacement gown.
Bryan’s Studios are our official photographer for the event. The photographer is responsible for the photoshoot and will also attend the graduation ceremony to take photographs of each graduand on stage being awarded for inclusion in the package photographs. No other photographer is allowed to approach the graduation stage.
The graduation photoshoot will be held as follows:
- Palisadoes Campus: January 19-21, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day
- Western Campus: Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The cost for package photographs (JA$6,000.00) must be paid directly to Bryan’s Studios on the day via cash, debit, or credit card. The proceeds to the university must be paid before clearance is given to Bryan’s Studio to take payment for the package photographs.
It is expected that all graduands must be smartly dressed for the photoshoot as well as the graduation ceremony, thus the University Dress Code regulations are to be observed by all, particularly as it relates to hair and earring requirements, (e.g., for men – white/cream dress shirt and tie and for females – collarless apparel, with neck ornament and appropriate dress shoes. There should be no jeans or sportswear for those walking in the graduation ceremony). Cadets should be adorned in official white regalia.
The packages available may be selected from among the attached.
Each graduand will be issued a total of four (4) guest invitations. Due to seating capacity and the number of attending graduands, there is always a limit on the number of guests tickets that can be allocated for the ceremony. We are seeking to support requests for extra tickets where space allows, but demand for tickets is high.
Parking will be provided at the venue to graduates and their guests at a cost of $200.00 per vehicle. Continue to monitor this webpage as more information is published on parking entry points and instructions.
Unfortunately, we do not have space to hold bags on the day, and storage space within the venue itself is limited and not secured. We urge each graduand to travel as light as possible, and where necessary to leave items with relatives or in vehicles on the day.
The award date is when the Academic Board confirms that you have met the criteria to be awarded your certificate in one of the approved certification periods – February, July or October. This is different from your ‘graduation’ date which relates to the ceremonial aspect where your degree is conferred at an arranged ceremony.
