Start Sailing

Seavie Caribbean and CMU, along with several partners, have embarked on an exciting journey towards providing employment opportunities for Jamaicans on board cruise ships. The venture will also partner with training agencies HEART/NTA and WHI to develop some of Jamaica's youth into maritime hospitality professionals.

What is Sail To Success?

The Sail to Success (STS) training initiative is a partnership based recruitment drive, to identify, train and place primarily workers in the hospitality industry in jobs on board cruise ships. The partners include the following entities:

Caribbean Maritime University (CMU) – the global certifying partner, which will provide certification in customized maritime courses to equip recruits with the competence to work on board vessels.

HEART TRUST NTA – the major national funding partner.

Western Hospitality Institute (WHI) – the training partner which will provide skills based training in key areas of hospitality

Seavie Caribbean – the Caribbean subsidiary of an international ship management and  crew management company with decades of experience in recruitment and placement, which will place STS recruits in job.

The aim of this recruitment drive is to provide hospitality and maritime professionals with an opportunity to earn more, gain additional skills and become globally certified in their areas of competence. These areas include:

Through training, applicants will gain the required skills to work on board ships in a wide range of areas. The global certification will enable them to work anywhere in the world. Sail-to-Success will improve lives by:

-Providing jobs with attractive salaries
-Filling training gaps among workers
-Further developing one of the most relied upon industries in the region (hospitality)
-Building capacity by developing human resources
-Enhancing productivity

This initiative is aligned with the CMU’s vision to be the university of choice for global leaders and is proudly supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
